Volunteers in the FEAS community are participating in a lot of different ways. Some folks like to help out in the classroom as reading or math buddies, some bring special skills to teach after school classes or start up clubs such as chess, knitting, cooking or outdoor adventures! There are no limits to what we can offer with the right people giving of their time for our youth.
FEAS would like to expand its early release and after school programs to the MS/HS. Students surveyed there expressed interest in classes in cooking, archery, film-making, and creative writing, among others.
According to the Michigan After School Partnership 85% of parents agree that afterschool programs provide opportunities for young people to engage with their peers and reduce unproductive screen time. Many families need safe places for their children outside of school and FEAS is working to do much more than simply provide after school care – our mission is to enrich and inspire the lives of our youth – and we need YOU to help.
Please fill out the volunteer form – it will not commit you to anything, but will allow us to have a conversation about your areas of interest and time availability. I look forward to talking with you!
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Thank you to our amazing Frankfort Elementary School volunteer, Jill Brown. According to Mrs. Robison 3rd grade teacher, "This is Jill's 11th year volunteering with me at FES! She is a very dedicated volunteer who comes 2 times daily (for both power hour groups) 4 days a week. She has an immune system of steel and is rarely sick after 11 years of being exposed to all elementary sicknesses. She also helped with summer tutoring last summer!" We truly appreciate and love Jill for all her hardwork, and her taking the time to volunteer to read with our students. Thank you Jill Brown!
